DB Bistro Moderne Singapore

Was in a hurry going to the Art Science Museum for the Dinosaur exhibition and so decided to try out DB Bistro Moderne Singapore at Marina Bay Sands.

The place was dim and peaceful..good for a pleasant date :)

 Pastries...

 And more..

And more... crispy outside, soft inside...

We were in great hurry so we just ordered the mains.. this is Saffron Tagliolini ($40), comes with fresh Spanner Crab, Tomatoes, Chili, Italian Parsley, Lemon and Olive Oil...slightly dry but the crab was fresh and the pasta was bouncy...great texture with zingy sauce..

Bouillabaisse Royale ($49) consisted of market fish, scallop, prawn, mussels, lobster and garlic rouille. The gravy was realllllyy..I can taste the smoke in the prawn and the fish, mussels and lobsters were fresh..great combination. Quite filling actually..

Well you have to experience some exciting mix of French cooking with contemporary American flavors once in a while. At this restaurant, I do appreciate the effort in the dishes and the pastries. However, it will be better if the waiters can have more passion and smile more? Maybe the management can improve in their well-being and keep them happy? Or do they judge customers by how they dress? hmmmm.....

So here are my comments:
Ambience 3/5
Food 3/5
Service 3/5
Price Steep but worth a try

Ice Bucket Challenge

While trying to get some inner peace and patience back during this slightly difficult period, I went to the park, read books and surf online more than I usually do...and then I observed the Ice Bucket challenge has gone viral and I get to see some of my friends and relatives doing the challenge and posted their videos on facebook.

Honestly I was taken aback.

Since when this has something to do with "losing face" if we were to decline it? It's about the will to do good. You do not have to increase the kg of ice or water (or pee just to show that you do not want to waste clean water), or increase size of bucket, or increase manpower to raise the bucket for you, or pay the extra few cents of water bill and then complain that government charges us high PUB bills and so on...You do not have to do the challenge, unwillingly, and not contributing in the end. What point are you trying to make? If you support ALS, donate money straight to them, this is practical.

Take a step back and not just look, but see.

I encourage people to donate (time or money) to any charity during any day of your life. There are people and animals around us who truly need our support. Just a few minutes of our time or a few dollars make a difference to their lives.

The Cat Cafe

Apologies that Phoebe has not been updating the blog for quite some time because I was hospitalized... After being discharged yesterday, the hospital had somehow took my patience away and now whatever I do, I do not have much patience and tried very hard not to explode. It is like I'm in this zone when I do not have much time left and every minute is super precious. Take for example last night I went to watch The Guardians of Galaxy...the show was bad..so I jumped ship to another theatre secretly to Ninja Turtle...it was another lousy show...and I left the cinema empty headed but watched 2 movies halfway. Normally I will give the show a chance until the end to proof to me it isn't that bad. Goodness...what monster have I turn into?!

Even now writing this post, I'm fidgeting around to get my best position to type...urgh!! This is frustrating...what things can I try to calm myself down and turn myself back to my usual patient person??

Ok back to The Cat Cafe...

I enjoyed my stay at Cat Cafe alot..they have so many cats there that I can't get enough with..they are all adopted cats and I super encourage that. I have 3 adopted cats fostered at someone house and I hope I can do more but 3 is enough for a house I guess...not forgetting other strays everywhere...but this place, there are alot more and they are relatively friendly..only one bit my cousin's hand gently as a warning...no big deal right cousin? *winks* Sometimes they just want some privacy...

Of course there are house rules like do not carry the cats or wake them up when they are sleeping...there is entrance fee of $15 per pax too...including a soft drink.

 Wink wink..

My chair was seated by a tangerine meow...never mind...I know you had a long day....

You can have more interaction with the cats if you buy titbits to feed them..

Chicken Lasagne ($8.90) with chips. The sauce was slightly too sour and it wasn't hot enough...overall still edible.

Belgian Waffles with Ice cream ($7). The waffles are the chewy and bready type...ice cream was not too sweet so still alright.

What I can say is don't expect too much from food when the main point of this place is about cats and interaction with cats...

I really had a great time there at the Cat Cafe...I hope they can improve on their hand treatments to the cats, like how they handle them, be more gentle and with more love....I would also like to see improvements in food..
