The Tiramisu Hero

Good morning! Do you love cats, love tiramisu and yearn for a hearty breakfast at the same time?

The Tiramisu Hero will be the place for you.

My lunch kaki sent me a link at 2am one night. It's a list of cafes at Jalan Besar area and they all have their unique selling point. But do they excel in it?

We started with The Tiramisu Hero at Tyrwhitt Road 'cause the name is interesting enough for me to decide to visit first.

Colorful right? But errr....no shade for al fresco..I think the tables are more suitable to sit in the evening. There are 2 smoke tables nearer to the door which is sheltered, just that it could be quite warm as there are no fans outside.

A free drink for smarties who can answer this quiz and spent $10 minimum.

The cafe has a range of stickers with Sir Antonio on it.

Vintage style..

Other stuff like earrings etc are for sale too!

Lunch time crowd but still able to find a table for two, not bad at all. One thing I noticed...there were a lot of Japanese customers.

Steps to order the Tiramisu. I've ordered the MiniHero which only comes in original flavour.

Cute wall design.

Cafe Latte ($5.50).

Matcha Tea Latte ($6). I couldn't replace the milk with soy milk or skim milk as they do not have those. So I took it as original. It was rich and fragrant, but it will be good if it is thicker and creamier.

Shawty's Breakfast ($11) with mashed potato, organic baby spinach, bacon strip, tomato slices and egg served with homemade sour dough bread. I can only describe this dish as hearty. It looked so bright, it could cheer me up in the morning. BUT, look at the oil!

The bread was crispy on the outside and delicate on the inside. I spread the mashed potato on it and it tasted heavenly..and of course sinful. The mashed potato was kind of too mashed up, watery and soft. I love the baby spinach and tomato though. The top layer was full of cheese and quite chewy.

An interesting dish indeed.

ChefChef Curry Baked Rice ($12.50). White jasmine rice baked in the ChefChef chicken curry. You can add cheese or sunny side up with extra cost. This needs 10mins of waiting time. The chicken meat (mostly breast meat) needs marinating and tenderizing as it was too tough and tasteless. The curry was not fragrant as it looked but it did taste like normal indian curry. The portion was generous according to my lunch kaki.

I ordered MiniHero ($3.50) as being a skeptical tiramisu eater, I just wanted a taste of it at a lower cost. It didn't fail me. The Mascarpone Cheese was light and not very sweet, it has no egg, the sponge was soaked with good espresso (acidity not high) and I could taste Kahlua! After the hearty Shawty's Breakfast, this cupcake size was just nice for me.

There are so many flavours to choose from if you get the larger size in a jar (MommaHero), from Lavender, Cinnamon, Fruits to Milo, Horlicks and Ovaltine.

I can't wait to try out the MommaHero in different flavours.

I must say, the waitresses provided good service by pouring water promptly and always carried smiles with them.
The Tiramisu Hero does online ordering, delivery service, customization of Tiramisu too! So now you have another choice of cake to indulge yourself and love ones on special occasions :)

And there you have it..would you give The Tiramisu Hero a try?

I am back!

Atma Namaste!

Firstly, I sincerely and deeply apologize for not posting for so long. I was trying to settle down with all the health issues and busy schedule while still needed to get enough rest. Now that I have gradually got used to the ups and downs of my health as another stage of life, I'm ready to entertain you with more cafe visits, restaurants try out, museum exhibitions and other throw backs that I've done.

I've also turned into a Vegetarian (Vegan most of the time) since last year for the love for animals, so I will be doing more non-meat reviews. Feedback for the dishes with meat will be from the friend-on-food-duty on that trip.

So boys and girls, cats and dogs, I'm back!

xoxo
